what's up guys??? i have been thinking about the music/band for souled out...i have an opinion that i would like to share...initially, i didn't want to comment about this but i believe that this page is for any comments (whatever they may be).......anyway.....i would rather have the band a little closer together...not on a stage...not in the spotlight....but somehow together, so we can become a cohesive unit...mark, i know the idea and meaning behind the setup and i respect that; however, i just wanted to throw my thoughts out there....i guess it is the musician in me... here are some of my ideas:
(idea 1) have a small stage with a big rugged cross standing straight up with lights on it...on each side of the stage have the band set up on the floor...2 or 3 on each side
(idea 2) have us all in the corner set up on the floor, together...the screens could be on the opposite corner of the band... i'm sure that there is already an outline for the set up...i am also aware that it is difficult to make these changes when there will be various stations set up around the room....again, this is no big deal....just my thoughts...sam

good thoughts sam..I have no problems considering this move..lets all think about it together..
I think we have succeeded in moving the band out of the spotlight. In my opinion, the students get that..The second dimension of the move around the chapel was to give a sense of participation, of the leadership coming from all angles and directions. There is no "back" to hide..
So I wonder..what if we moved the band together as Sam suggests..to the back right corner? Right as you walk in the door to the right..where Beth usually is..but..what if we somewhat intentionally worked the band out into the audience a little so that people were actually sitting within the band..
Not too many..not crazy..but a few here and there..the idea is that you arise out of the community to offer your gift as anyone else would arise..they have the same right as you (or me) to stand up and be heard..
thoughts?

googoo dolls
"better days"
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
So take these words
And sing out loud
Cuz everyone is forgiven now
Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again
And it's someplace simple where we could live
And something only you can give
And thats faith and trust and peace while we're alive
And the one poor child that saved this world
And there's 10 million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them
So take these words
And sing out loud
Cuz everyone is forgiven now
Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again
I wish everyone was loved tonight
And somehow stop this endless fight
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
So take these words
And sing out loud
Cuz everyone is forgiven now
Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again
Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again
